David Sutherland (1933-2023) was a prominent Scottish illustrator and comics artist associated with DC Thomson, famous for creating popular characters like The Bash Street Kids and Dennis the Menace. He started his career as an adventure strip artist and eventually became the main illustrator for several comics. Sutherland drew over 2,000 strips for The Bash Street Kids, took over classic characters like Biffo the Bear, and contributed to other titles including Fred's Bed. He was awarded an OBE for his contributions to illustration and passed away at the age of 89.
