David Suzuki, born March 24, 1936, is a Canadian academic, science broadcaster, and environmental activist. He earned a Ph.D. in zoology from the University of Chicago in 1961 and was a professor at the University of British Columbia from 1963 until his retirement in 2001. Since the 1970s, he has gained fame through his television and radio programs, documentaries, and nature books, notably hosting 'The Nature of Things' on CBC. As a long-time climate change advocate, he co-founded the David Suzuki Foundation in 1990 to promote sustainability and protect the environment.
