David Thomas Broughton (born 20 March 1981) is an English folk and avant-garde singer and guitarist known for creating a large ensemble sound using self-sampling techniques with a loop pedal. He incorporates non-traditional instruments and field recordings into his performances, demonstrating a love for improvisation and spontaneity. Broughton has released four solo albums and several EPs, often receiving critical acclaim from major publications. He tours internationally and has participated in various music festivals. A documentary about him premiered at the Leeds International Film Festival in 2015.
