David Lauchlan Urquhart, Baron Tayside OBE, was a Scottish businessman and a Labour Party politician. Born on September 13, 1912, he became the chairman and managing director of Don Brothers, Buist and Company, a significant jute and flax spinning company in Forfar. In 1967, he was made a life peer as Baron Tayside, and he served in the House of Lords for eight years, primarily focusing on economic issues in Scotland. He was also involved with the Dundee Chamber of Commerce and Grampian Television.
