David Anthony Wevill (born 1935) is a Japanese-born Canadian poet and translator, who became a dual citizen of the U.S. and Canada in 1994. He is a professor emeritus at The University of Texas at Austin and was part of an underground literary movement in London. Wevill gained recognition in Al Alvarez's anthology The New Poetry (1962) and served as editor for the literary journal Delos. He received a Guggenheim Fellowship for Poetry in 1981. Additionally, he was married to Assia Wevill from 1960 until her death in 1969.
