Davorin 'Davo' Karničar was a Slovenian mountaineer, extreme skier, and ski instructor, born on October 26, 1962, in Zgornje Jezersko, SFR Yugoslavia. He is best known for being the first person to ski down from the summit of Mount Everest in 2000 and for completing the Seven Summits, which are the highest peaks on each of the seven continents. Karničar's accomplishments made him a notable figure in the fields of mountaineering and skiing, until his passing on September 16, 2019, in Slovenia.
