Daya Dissanayake, born on 8 March 1947, is a prominent bilingual Sri Lankan novelist, poet, and blogger. His works include critical studies, nine novels in English, six in Sinhala, a collection of poems, and various articles. He gained recognition for authoring Asia's first e-novel, 'The Saadhu Testament' in 1998, and the first Sinhala e-novel, 'Vessan Novu Wedun' in 2003. He is a three-time winner of the Sri Lankan State Literary Award for best English novel and was awarded the SAARC Literary Award in 2013, advocating for ebooks and Creative Commons.
