Dean Burk was an American biochemist, medical researcher, and cancer researcher. He was born on March 21, 1904, and passed away on October 6, 1988. Burk developed the Lineweaver-Burke plot in 1934 in collaboration with Hans Lineweaver. He was the second of four sons of Frederick Burk, founder of the San Francisco Normal School. Burk entered the University of California, Davis at the age of 15, later transferring to Berkeley where he earned a bachelor's degree in entomology in 1923 followed by a PhD in biochemistry four years later.
