Deb Shankar Ray is an Indian physical chemist and professor in the Department of Physical Chemistry at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science in Kolkata. He is known for his research in nonlinear dynamics and theoretical spectroscopy. Ray is a fellow of several prestigious organizations, including the Indian National Science Academy, West Bengal Academy of Science and Technology, and Indian Academy of Sciences. He received the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology from the Government of India in 1999, one of the highest awards in Indian science.
