Dedé da Portela, born Edson Fagundes on May 28, 1939, in São Paulo, was a Brazilian singer and songwriter who became a notable figure in the Portela samba school. He is recognized for his fruitful partnership with Norival Reis, with whom he co-composed the samba-enredo 'Contos de areia' in 1984. That same year, Portela won the championship on the first day of Carnival. Dedé da Portela passed away on February 18, 2003, in Nova Iguaçu.
