Deirdre Anne Forbes is an Irish former broadcasting executive, known for being the first female Director General of RTÉ, serving from April 2016 until June 2023. She held the distinction of being the first external appointment to the role in almost 50 years. Before her tenure at RTÉ, she was the President and Managing Director of Discovery Networks Northern Europe. In June 2023, she resigned amidst a controversy regarding undisclosed payments to broadcaster Ryan Tubridy.
