Tziovas is a professor of Modern Greek Studies at Birmingham, where he has also served as director. His research focuses on modern Greek literature, culture, and history, covering topics such as national identity, Greek politics, and intercommunal relationships in the Balkans. He has organized international conferences and edited a series for translations from Modern Greek to English.
