Denis Kontošić is a Croatian writer and cultural worker from Barban, born in Pula on June 13, 1959. He writes in Barban Čakavian, which is part of the southwest Istrian dialect, as well as in the Croatian literary language. He has published four independent poetry collections and contributed to numerous collective anthologies. Kontošić has also edited around twenty collections of Čakavian poetry by Istrian poets and has written expert articles published in nine conference proceedings. Additionally, he is known for his humorous character Barba Mate in radio and is a member of the Istrian Branch of the Croatian Writers' Society.
