Dennis Rader, born on March 9, 1945, is an American serial killer responsible for the deaths of at least ten individuals near Wichita, Kansas, between 1974 and 1991. Known as the BTK killer (Bind Torture Kill), Rader would bind and torture his victims before murdering them. He sent letters detailing his crimes to local authorities and the media, taunting police for not capturing him. His correspondence resumed in 2004, ultimately leading to his arrest in 2005. Rader was sentenced to 175 years in prison without the possibility of parole.
