He served as a representative in the Kentucky House of Representatives for District 38 from January 1989 until January 2007. Butler chose not to seek reelection in 2006. He was born on December 31, 1938, and passed away on December 29, 2009, leaving behind a legacy in Kentucky politics as a dedicated public servant.
