Denys Fisher was an English toy manufacturer and game inventor, best known for creating the Spirograph. After studying mechanical engineering at the University of Leeds, he worked at the family company Kingfisher before founding Denys Fisher Engineering in 1960. He developed a bomb fuse for NATO and invented the Spirograph in 1962, patented in 16 countries. In 1970, he sold his company, which became Denys Fisher Toys, to General Mills, and later worked with Hasbro in the 1980s to further develop the Spirograph.
