Derek Boitel-Gill was a British flying ace in the Royal Air Force during World War II, credited with shooting down at least eight aircraft. He joined the RAF in 1929 and served until 1934 before entering civil aviation. He was called back for military service in April 1940 and served in No. 152 Squadron during the Battle of Britain, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross in October 1940. Boitel-Gill became the squadron leader in November 1940 and later trained pilots at No. 59 Operational Training Unit until his death in a flying accident in September 1941.
