Derek James Klazen is a Namibian politician from SWAPO, born on May 31, 1965, in Walvis Bay, Namibia. He has been serving as the Minister of Fisheries since April 21, 2021, in the Geingob II Cabinet. Klazen became a member of the National Assembly in 2015 and held the position of Deputy Minister of Urban and Rural Development from 2015. He was also the mayor of Walvis Bay from 2006 to 2008 and again from 2010 to 2012. He has multiple tertiary degrees in Education Sciences.
