Derrick Morris was a Welsh man from Swansea, born in 1930, who became the longest surviving heart transplant recipient in Europe after his surgery at Harefield Hospital in 1980. He was the 11th person to receive a heart transplant in the UK. After suffering a heart attack in 1975, he returned to work at the docks following his successful surgery. For 20 years post-transplant, he campaigned tirelessly to raise awareness about heart disease and encourage organ donation.
