Derviş Eroğlu is a prominent Turkish Cypriot politician born in Famagusta in 1938. He served as the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus from April 23, 2010, until April 30, 2015. Previously, he held the position of Prime Minister twice, first from 1985 to 1994 and again from 1996 to 2004. Eroğlu led the National Unity Party from 1983 to 2006 and returned to the Prime Minister role in 2009 after his party's victory in the general elections. He became the third president of the republic in April 2010.
