Desirée Santos Amaral is a Venezuelan journalist and politician born on October 13, 1948, in Caracas. She was elected as a deputy of the National Assembly of Venezuela for the 2021-2026 term on December 6, 2020. Since 2015, she has served as the director of the state newspaper Correo del Orinoco. Previously, she was a principal legislator from 2000 to 2015, including a term as First Vice President of the legislative power from 2006 to 2008. She has also held various ministerial and assembly positions.
