Desmond Wyndham Otho FitzGerald, the 28th Knight of Glin, was born on 20 January 1901 in Croom, County Limerick. He was the only son of the 27th Knight of Glin and Lady Rachel Charlotte Wyndham-Quin. Educated at Winchester College and Lancing College, FitzGerald moved to London in 1924. In 1929, he married Veronica Villiers, with whom he had three children. His heir was Desmond FitzGerald, 29th Knight of Glin. He passed away from tuberculosis on 2 April 1949 in Limerick, Ireland.
