Desmond Walter Guinness was an Anglo-Irish author known for his work on Georgian art and architecture. He was a dedicated conservationist and co-founded the Irish Georgian Society. Born into a notable family, he was the son of author and brewer Bryan Guinness, 2nd Baron Moyne. In 1958, he purchased Leixlip Castle in Ireland, where he lived with two wives — his first being Princess Henriette Marie-Gabrielle von Urach and later marrying Penelope Cuthbertson in 1984. Guinness's contributions to cultural heritage preservation are widely recognized.
