She has served as the Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) since her election in January 2021. Her five-year term began on March 1, 2021, overseeing a multinational secretariat of about 80 staff members based in Strasbourg. Notably, she is the first woman to hold this position since the Assembly's establishment in 1949 and the first individual of Greek nationality to do so.
