Dharani Barman (1926 - 2017) was an actor, director, and producer of Assamese mobile theater. Born in Chamata, Nalbari district, he founded the Suradevi Theater. Barman gained popularity through his performances in plays like Chiraj and Chambalar Abhishap. He became the first mobile theater artist to receive the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. In 2004, he was honored with the title 'Manch Surya' at the Phalgu Utsav organized by the National Cultural Youth Festival in Kolkata and the Assam government's cultural department.
