Diane E. Griffin is a distinguished university professor and a faculty member in the Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She served as the department chair from 1994 to 2015. Griffin also holds the position of current vice president of the National Academy of Sciences and has joint appointments in the Department of Neurology. In 2004, she was elected to the presidency of the American National Academy of Sciences (NAS) in the field of microbial biology.
