Diane Ethel McGifford, born on March 26, 1945, is a former Manitoba politician who served in the cabinet under Premiers Gary Doer and Greg Selinger. Born in Manchester, England, she moved to Manitoba and pursued higher education, earning a Ph.D. in English. McGifford was elected to the Manitoba Legislative Assembly in 1995 and held various ministerial positions, including Minister of Culture, Heritage and Tourism. She was re-elected in 1999, 2003, and 2007 but did not run in the 2011 election. Additionally, she has an academic background and contributed to women's organizations and literature.
