Richard Leroy Teed was an American professional baseball player, manager, and scout known primarily as a catcher. His playing career spanned 17 seasons from 1947 to 1965, including a brief appearance in Major League Baseball for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1953. Teed graduated high school in Windsor, Connecticut, and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. After playing, he transitioned to managing in the Phillies' minor league system and scouting for both the Phillies and Dodgers. He passed away on August 17, 2014, in Newport, Rhode Island.
