Dietmar Biesold was a German neurochemist, born on July 28, 1925, in Zschachwitz and passed away on January 19, 1991, in Leipzig. He trained as a neurochemist in Leipzig and Cardiff and was appointed to the first chair in neurochemistry in 1975. Biesold was a co-founder of the Paul Flechsig Institute. He is known for his research on Alzheimer's and Wilson's disease, as well as studying changes in synaptic plasticity during ontogenetic development.
