Dietmar Kolbus was a German chess player known for his impressive achievements in competitive chess. He was an International Master since 2005 and played for the SG Trier club in various German leagues, achieving a remarkable performance in 2005. Later, he moved to the Isle of Man, captaining the Manx Liberty team in the Four Nations Chess League and winning the championship in 2021/22. Kolbus participated in numerous tournaments, including the Biel Chess Festival, where he unfortunately passed away in 2024. He was set to represent the Isle of Man in the 2024 Chess Olympiad.
