Dimitris Malavetas was a Greek actor and director born on January 13, 1939, in Athens. His father was the journalist Thomas Malavetas, assassinated during the Greek Civil War. He studied at the American College of Athens and the Royal British Theatre School. Malavetas worked with the National Theatre and represented Greece at the first world conference on Shakespeare in Vancouver. He starred in and directed various acclaimed productions, including roles in the rock opera 'EVITA'. He passed away on April 1, 1988, and was found dead in his home, revealing he had committed suicide.
