Dimitŭr Petkov Zidarov was a Bulgarian geophysicist and doctor of physical and mathematical sciences. Born on January 2, 1921, in Obzor, he graduated in physics from Sofia University in 1947 and worked at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences as a research affiliate and later as a senior research affiliate. He led the Earth Magnetism and Gravimetry section at the Geophysical Institute. He was also a lecturer at the Mining and Geology Institute. He died on December 21, 1993. His research focused on classical potential theory and its applications in geophysics and geodesy.
