Jamshid Sharmahd is an Iranian-German journalist and software engineer born on March 23, 1955, in Tehran, Iran. He acquired German citizenship in 1995 and founded his own software company in 2000 before moving to the United States in 2003. In July 2020, he was apprehended by Iranian intelligence in Dubai and brought to Iran, where he was accused of being responsible for the 2008 Shiraz mosque attack that resulted in 14 deaths. His family denies the charges, and he was sentenced to death in February 2023 for alleged 'corruption on earth'.
