Dlawer Ala'Aldeen (born 1960) is the founding president of the Middle East Research Institute, a policy research institute based in Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq. He served as the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Kurdistan Regional Government from 2009 to 2012. Ala'Aldeen is also a professor of medicine (infectious diseases) at the University of Nottingham in the UK. His current focus is on policy research in areas such as good governance, rule of law, national security, governance reform, and the promotion of human rights.
