Domitien Ndayizeye, born in Murango (Kayanza, Burundi) on May 2, 1953, is a Burundian politician who served as Vice President during Pierre Buyoya's government. He succeeded Buyoya as President of Burundi on April 30, 2003, remaining in office until August 26, 2005. Ndayizeye is a member of the National Council for the Defense of Democracy-Forces of the Defense of Democracy and belongs to the Hutu ethnic group.
