Don Moye is an American jazz drummer and percussionist born on May 23, 1946. He was influenced by a musical family, with a father who played drums and an uncle who played saxophone. Moye began his musical journey in childhood, singing in a church choir and playing the violin. He studied percussion at Wayne State University in Detroit and has performed with the Art Ensemble of Chicago since 1969. Throughout his career, he collaborated with various musicians, including Hamiet Bluiett and Randy Weston, and has released several albums under his name.
