Donald George Broadley was a British herpetologist who significantly contributed to the understanding of African reptiles. Working initially as a cartographic draftsman, he later moved to Zimbabwe for city planning. Broadley served as the Honorary Keeper of Herpetology at the Natural History Museum of Zimbabwe and directed a snake park, where he also experienced serious snake bites. He greatly expanded the museum's herpetological collection and described around 86 valid reptile species along with several subspecies and genera. Broadley authored over 280 scientific publications before retiring in 1995.
