Donald Martin Jenni (1937-2006) was an American composer, musicologist, and educator known for his prodigious talent in piano and composition. He studied under Leon Stein and was influenced by Henry Cowell. Jenni earned degrees from De Paul University, University of Chicago, and Stanford University, teaching at De Paul and later at the University of Iowa. He became head of Iowa's composition and theory areas, mentoring notable students. Fluent in multiple languages, Jenni's research spanned various musical traditions. He became a cloistered oblate at a Benedictine monastery before passing away in New Orleans.
