He was convicted for the murders of two women in hotels in Iowa during the 1990s, specifically in West Des Moines and Clive, occurring in 1993 and 1997. Piper is also linked as a suspect to four additional killings. For his confirmed crimes, he received two life sentences without the possibility of parole.
