Dorothy-Grace Elder is a Scottish journalist and politician, formerly a member of the Scottish National Party (SNP). In the 1999 Scottish Parliament election, she ran for the Glasgow Baillieston constituency but lost to Labour's Margaret Curran. However, she secured a seat as a candidate on the SNP's regional list for Glasgow. Over time, Elder found it challenging to align with the SNP's direction, resulting in a loss of support within the party. After being advised to return her mandate, she left the SNP and served as an independent member until she did not seek re-election in 2003.
