She made significant contributions to establishing tennis in Mississippi and was known for her mixed doubles success. Vest served as the Director of Tennis for Jackson from 1951 to 1981, where she coached and helped build tennis facilities. She was honored with the Ralph W. Westcott USTA Family of the Year Award in 1979 and inducted into the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame in 1980. The Mississippi Tennis Association presents an annual award in her name. She passed away on January 7, 2013.
