Douglas Scott 'Doug' Bateman is a former American luger born on January 19, 1954, in Somerville, New Jersey. He competed in doubles with partner Ronald Rossi, achieving notable results including 6th place at the Igls 'Großen Preis', the best performance by a U.S. doubles team at that time, and winning the North American Championships. They qualified for the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, finishing in 9th place. Following his athletic career, Bateman served as president of the U.S. Luge Association from 1998 to 2002 and 2006 to 2014.
