Douglas Clyde Tassell was an Australian rules footballer born on December 28, 1945. He played as a half back flanker for Essendon in the Victorian Football League (VFL). In 1969, he participated in nine games after joining the club from Ararat. That year, he built a house for his family in Ararat. His career was tragically cut short when he died in a car accident on June 20, 1970, at the young age of 24, following participation in the first 11 rounds of the 1970 VFL season.
