Charles Douglas Drysdale was a Scottish nationalist activist and businessman, born in Glasgow in October 1915. He served as a major in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers during WWII and was awarded the MBE. After the war, he co-founded Drysdale Brothers (Larbert) Ltd. Active in the Scottish National Party from 1962, he became the Vice Chairman in 1964. He contested the 1964 and 1966 general elections but was unhappy with the party leadership. Despite suffering a major stroke in 1969, he remained supportive of the independence movement until his death in 1984.
