Douglas George Elliot (1917-1989) was an Australian politician and media personality. Born in Caulfield, he started his career as a radio and television announcer after working with J. C. Williamson's theatre company. He served in the Royal Australian Air Force during WWII and joined the Labor Party in 1946. Elliot was elected to the Victorian Legislative Council in 1960, serving until 1979, while also holding the position of mayor of Essendon City Council from 1982 to 1983. He is remembered for his contributions to politics and broadcasting.
