Douglas Edward Gretzler was an American serial killer responsible for the murders of seventeen individuals in Arizona and California during late 1973. Alongside his accomplice Willie Steelman, they committed these heinous crimes primarily for robbery or to eliminate witnesses. Tried and convicted separately in 1974 and 1975, both were sentenced to death for two of the murders in Arizona and received life sentences for others. Gretzler was executed by lethal injection in June 1998, while Steelman died in prison in 1986.
