Douglas Ernest William Harrison was an Anglican priest born on 30 March 1903 in Bristol. Educated at Bristol Grammar School and St John's College, Oxford, he was ordained in 1926. His early career included serving as a curate at St John's Waterloo in Liverpool and later as Vice-Principal of Wycliffe Hall, Oxford. Harrison became Archdeacon of Sheffield before being appointed Dean of Bristol, a position he held from 1957 until 1972.
