Douglas Scott Falconer (1913–2004) was a prominent Scottish geneticist recognized for his contributions to quantitative genetics. He authored the influential book 'Introduction to Quantitative Genetics' in 1960, which served as a reference for many scientists until its latest edition in 1996, coauthored with Trudy Mackay. Falconer graduated with first-class honors in zoology from the University of St Andrews and earned his PhD from the University of Cambridge. His notable research included the discovery of the reeler mouse mutant and the introduction of liability threshold models in human disease modeling.
