Draff Young (April 9, 1942 – March 24, 2012) was a notable NBA coach, recognized for being the first African-American head coach in the league without prior playing experience. He initially gained a love for basketball from his uncle and went on to play at Johnson C. Smith University. Young coached teams including the Cincinnati Royals and Kansas City-Omaha Kings. His career also included coaching in Kuwait and Qatar, as well as being a basketball analyst. Later in life, he dedicated himself to a spiritual journey, becoming a deacon at Zion Temple Holiness Church.
