Drago Bregar (1952-1977) was a Slovenian mountaineer known for his expertise in ice climbing. He was the first Yugoslav to die in the Himalayas. Bregar was part of an expedition that successfully climbed Gasherbrum I in July 1977. In 1975, he reached the summit of Elbrus, the highest mountain in Europe. Bregar showcased his climbing skills on Nakratau, tackling a challenging mixed route with his team. His legacy is honored by the Ljubljana branch of the Alpine Association of Slovenia, named after him.
